Hand Tool Safety
always use the proper tool for the job
keep hand tools clean, sharp and in good condition
never leave tools where they can harm someone else
do not use tools that are not in proper working condition
fix broken tools immediately
always use safety goggles
always use a dust mask if use of the tool will create dust
never pull or pry bars towards you
with sharp-edged tools, cut away from the body
never strike two striking tools together as they may shatter and injure you or others
Power Tool Safety
make sure the ground terminal and the power cord is in place and functional
portable tools and equipment must be grounded using three wire cords (WCB regulation)
do not use a power tool if the cord is cut or frayed
do not operate power tools in a wet location
hold handheld power tools with adequate control in a comfortable, controlled, balanced body position
do not lift a power tool by its power supply
tug from the plug
disconnect, unplug or lockout electrical equipment before changing blades or grinding wheels or performing other preventative maintenance
do not wear loose clothing that can entangle in the power tool
tie back long hair while using power tools
shut off machinery if you are leaving the area, even for just a moment
allow revolving machinery to come to a full and complete stop before leaving the area
do not use machinery if you have not been trained in its use
